What BEAM Can Do

BEAM saves lives.  From trauma transfers and stroke patient consults to the exchange of mammography exam priors, clinics and hospitals use BEAM every day to deliver images that result in better patient care that saves lives.

For example, when a critically injured or ill patient in Hawaii needs to be transferred to specialists at a trauma center in Honolulu, the patient’s images are transferred by BEAM and not by CD.  The images arrive an hour or two in advance of the patient, giving the trauma team ample time to assemble and prepare for the patient’s arrival.  The right care can be given when the patient is wheeled in, and not an hour later after reading CDs or waiting to re-image the patient.  BEAM saves lives.
